> best pay as you go network uk? best cheap phone?
Bookmark topic
Hi,
I'm thinking about getting a cheaper phone...basically for just carrying around ANYWHERE as I am getting slightly worried about carrying around my treo everywhere. Also, I would like to beneift from a slightly lighter phone again.
My question is, what is the cheapest pay as you go network (in the United Kingdom) and also what's the best cheap phone?
I have had a look at the ZTE cheap phone on three at the moment. Maybe a bit too feminine but it is £29.99 in argos with £30 credit in argos at the moment.
All suggestions appreciated --- thanks guys.

some months ago I ported from vodafone (after 8 years with them) to a "sim only" t-mobile deal which you can only get online.
Its £7.50/month which includes 50 minutes calls and though its not payg, it sim only payable monthly, there is no commitment except a months notice at any time. I think its better than payg as you don;t have to worry about topping up.
for an extra tenner I also get web'n'walk pro with (almost) data/web access/email etc
I liked it so much I got a second one for my main spare phone!

web'n'walk PRO is usually what you get when you get the PCMCIA laptop card whereas standard web'n'walk you should only use in your phone and I think normally costs £7.50/month but with which you should not use as a modem from you laptop through your phone etc etc (other restrictions too)
I've queries them on this and never got a straight answer as to why I am on PRO but I'm happy to pay the extra £2.50/month to have the full capability

I don't really make too many phone calls, but that t-mobile deal sounds kinda good. I've been spending aprox. £5 a week on vodafone payg (alright deal as I get virtually unlimited calls + texts over the weekend), I'm still on the old priceplan as I'm not sure that the new one is better atm, as it is slightly different on the call charges, although cheaper (by 2p! finally!) for texts. Before being on vodafone, I was on tesco value mobile. My reason I'm not on their price plan any more is as I like to have gprs internet on the go, rather than having to use CSD. Before tesco I was on virgin. I'm rather tempted to go back to them, but as alot of people I know are on vodafone, orange or t-mobile it doesn't make too much sense, although virgin's text / call packs are quite good.
As I'm under 16 I'd rather go for a p.a.y.g. deal, but does anyone know of any websites that are reputable at sending out the cashback for the 12 months free line rental on a 12 month contract?

for your last question, I've had no issue from the couple of
dial-a-phone deals I have had in the last couple of years
