I would ideally recommend the memory card.. Just to leave space on the phone memory

i put my favorite themes (2 or 3) and my contact pics and ringtones that i actually use on phone memory. the rest goes in the memory card. that way, i can swap memory cards without a deep feeling of loss, and still have plenty of phone memory left for if err... i need it.

So do I, i.e I keep contact pictures, ringtones and active theme on the phone, the ewst on the memory card, but the optimal thing would have been to have everything on the memory card, or why not on the SIM card. Then there would be no problems to switch to another phone (or replace a faulty phone). The problem is that the formats of the memory cards constantly changes (Memory stick -> MS Duo, M2 for example), and even with the same memory card type, the file system disposition and directory structure differ between phone models.

@wanakin - As much as possible LEAVE your phone's memory (internal) - FREE ! Put all your stuffs in the EXTERNAL memory card slot . . . also, if your fone is capable of accepting BIG-capacity cards . . . then go, say like 1 or 2 GBs !

why not on the internall memory Jojo ?? does it lag the phone ?? I still have my trusty ol' T630, but soon (I hope) I can get a better phone with expansion slot, the I would have the contact photos in the internall, the rest in the memory card.

I would consider those system files. Phone memory. Because, when you take out the mem card you are really screwing things up.

@mc - I guess that will DEPEND totally with how BIG the internal MEMORY is mate . . . because, up till now I can see mobiles which only has, say, 32 or 64 MB capacities Perhaps the very important ONES should be left in the INTERNAL like: Debts, Dates, cash-On-Hand Datas . . . some should really go to the external one: images, videos, MP3s, cam-pics, etc.

Yup, totally agree with ya, jojo. That's what I do as well. Really important files I'd leave in the phone memory. Stuff like the ringtone, message tone and theme that I'm using, I'd leave in the phone memory. Everything else goes into my MSPD.

i think you shall place them in the phone's memory, why? 'cause memory stick is better for big files (mp3, pictures, 3gp, etc). conctacts pictures, ringtones and themes are small/medium size files.
