right, to cut a long story short, my windows xp professional at home is not genuine and the windows advantage gennine tool is saying i need to buy a original copy.. Not a problem... (so this is not anything bad - i just need some advise)
Basically i have 2 choices,
* Buying windows xp pro (with vista upgrade coupon) for £100 or
* Using the vista beta cd i bought until vista is actually realeased...
(i was trying to hold back until the offical vista lunch before buying another operating system etc.... (and reason behind using the 'dodgy' verson, i recently sold my pc (with operating system) and was waiting teh vista release)
So, to sum up,. if i used vista beta would i have huge problrems with drivers or are most things sorted now?
also the spec of my pc is:
2.2Ghz xp, 512 ram, 200gig HDD, Geforc 6600GT (agp x8).....
or would it be better getting teh xp pro with vista coupon (free upgrade to vista when its avalible).....
Cheers all,
lee

Righty, had a bash at vista beta last night..... im guessing no-one has tried this (so i thought id be nice and share what i found

).
I had absoulutly no drivers for anything!!! couldnt get my internet to work, graphics card, sound... nothing.... so let it be a lesson to anyone trying to install and run it, (look for drivers in advance)... cos i spent about 5-6 hours last night reinstalling windows back and forth between xp and vista (NIGHTMARE!!!!!)
anyone know much about this and could now offer me some advise
All the best

umm.. about the cracked XP... if a genuine verifier blah blah add-on is bugging you, theres this crack that would replace your current unreliable cracked serial into a legit serial without reinstalling everything...
ive stumbled upon it while trying to make a way to install IE7... so thats it.. i got my IE7 working with this genuine serial.

Doh! You silly arse, I thought you had a bloody router! That way, you'd have been straight back on the Internet and could have downloaded the drivers.
When I said Vista is now OK for drivers, I meant installing the bloody things! Early versions of Vista had massive problems when it came to driver setup programs!
Anyway, are you still stuck getting the vista drivers or have you got them all now?
