It's been saying "Please wait...Downloading phone software"
For about 15 mins. Is that normal?

It's totally normal. SEUS here does so for even 60 minutes when I was using dial up.

I use ADSL and it took about 45 min. for the whole procedure to finish. So don't worry. Also you have two parts. One is when your PC receive f/w from the internet (SE) and second is actuall phone upgrade. For the second part there is a phone icon from the right side with filling up in green showing the update progress.

This is another reason why i should have stuck with my plan never to buy any more sony hardware. why does it all have to be done online? What's wrong with a download and install as a seperate phase? As it is, it ties up your phone for the whole length of the update process, with it's fancy animations - and who knows what happens if the internet connection drops out part way through the process...

On a freshly rebuilt machine with approx. 230k ADSL speed, the whole R3B update took approx 30 mins..........with the actual phone update taking ......and that was with NOTHING on the PC; obviously most people will have their PC half full of stuff, so I'd expect up to double my elapsed time to be needed in most cases! Hope this helps
