> K790 for MUSIC (fastport adapter)

Hi guys, I recently bought this adapter:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/SONY-ERICS[....]goryZ68022QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem for use with my K790 phone. Using Shure E2c headphones, the sound coming out of the unit seems muddled lacking many of the high notes (I am comparing using the E2cs with the phone through adapter, as compared to using the E2cs with an iPod connected directly.)
What I want to know, is if the poor sound quality is due to the adapter that I have used, or just the general output on the phone? Does anyone have any experience using the phone with a fastport adapter, and yielding good results with higher end headphones?

I've recently asked a similar question as I too am looking at getting a pair of Shure E2c earbuds but am curious about the connectivity.
Also Sockhead, can the E2c's be worn like regular earbuds or will they only fit behind the head?

The E2cs are made so they wrap around your ear, but the actual wire can go in front or in back. They're not like some headphones where one earpiece wire is shorter than another, so that one of the earpiece wires has to go by your head, if that's what you're asking.
What I really want to know, is that if I maybe got another adapter (such as a branded Sony walkman one) would the sound quality be better? Like I mentioned above, the current adapter I'm using is NOT Sony labelled, I just didn't think that it'd make a difference when I bought it.

Thanks for the clarification as you answered exactly the questions I was after.
I also use a generic adapter, although a much shorter one without the mic. I only have experience using it with either the included earbuds or a $20 pair of Koss Sparkplugs. The sound quality seems the same although the build quality of these generic adapters is crap. Sure wish SE would make a simple short Fastport to 3.5 adapter as I am seriously looking to upgrade to Shure E2c's myself.

I was also using a generic adaptor, the variation with a built-in mic. Was considering getting the short version, but my adaptor's connection started to get loose so I decided to go for SE's HPM-70 instead. Just got it on Monday, works pretty well so far.
