Hi, I had similar experience as one of the reviewers mentioned about handwriting on P990 for text input. Reviewer did mentioned that it probably because its a Chinese & english version and may not be the case for English only versions of P990i. Any other user experience?? How about from those who is using P990i English version only? Is your text input using handwriting smooth and fast?? Thanks and cheers

My English handwriting set is working ok.
After I have updated to chinese. The text recognition is slow and lagging.
I have removed that feature after the Chinese update.

no i did not remove my chinese firmware.
Chinese firmware cant be self remove, it has to be flashed
at the Service centre.

I am quite satisfied with text'ing' with my keypad
faster than handwriting

The only significant problems I have are occasional loss of focus, where a new character is interpreted as a click on the screen, closing the edit function. Frequently this has some other side effect, which isn't great.

So can I conclude that the handwriting on P990 is nothing near compared to say palm or even windows mobile

No problem whatsoever. With auto complete, it's even better than ever. I have to get used to the keyboard as it does seem fun to use.

For now, hand writing recognition is just like the old faithful P900, clean and fast.
