Guys,

I've just started playing with my P990i that I got yesterday. I'm wondering what your experiences are about IMAP. I've got about 600ish emails in my inbox at the moment (I know I should clean), and the server is the UW-IMAPD.

Does anyone have any experience with this? If so, what sort of experience. I'm currently experiencing a completely unuseable phone; everything takes ages and it seems to "lock up". And I can't terminate the messaging application to start over....

... Any tips greately appreciated!

I have the same kind of experience. Using different IMAP accounts, and if there are more than a few mails in the inbox folder, everything hangs, freezes - and often some KERNEL EXEC error occurs. Other running apps on the phone are also killed in the process..

It's really annoying for a phone I thought was made for tough work...

Hope SE will change all this in upcoming firmware update.

I use two IMAP folders, one has about 10 messages, the other around one hundred. No problems with these numbers have I encountered.

My email account has over 7000 emails, and my k750 handles them fine. Perhaps you need to make sure you're only downloading headers.

Thanks guys. I am downloading only the headers. My suspicion is that the phone downloads/searches everything on the filesystem (including directories like public_html, etc).
In Kmail I have a setting for Namespaces, it used to be IMAP folder path, or something like that.

A bit similar to this post here.

Is there any such setting on the P990i..? I haven't found it, neither on the phone, nor the manual.

Still confused/annoyed!
