Hi,
Had my phone hooked up to my computer via USB at work. Removed the phone and put it in my inside pocket of my jacket and drove home. When I got home I tried to make a call but the screen was black. So I removed the battery and put it back in. The screen turned white and the vibrate was constantly wrong. So I returned my phone to the dealer and they sent in for repair. Got a mail from the repair company that is was water damaged and no warrenty. They included a picture with "proof" (red rectangle at the right in the picture). I find it very strange that my phone was damage by water in my inside pocket in the car on my way home! Really frustrated now. It seems like they are just screwing me on a new phone. Is the attached picture proof of water damage? Couldn't it be that the damage happened when I removed the phone from the usb contact?

That's why I never trust service centre...particularly here in my town. The technicians are never cooperative. They don't even know how to treat our lovely phones...2 weeks only for flashing my mate's K750i..(sigh)..

Also, I don't even know if the attached image is actully my phone. Open it would certainly void warrenty and with my limited knowledge I would probably break it even more. But, to my question. If that is actually my phone, could the removal of the usb cable cause that what you see in the picture?

Most certainly not.
The only way that could have been water damaged that way would be if it was stood end up in a cup of water. Corrosion would not happen that fast IMO.
Can you remember it even getting wet at any stage?
I would be very suspicious....

Did you buy the phone new in a sealed retail box?

yes, new in a retail box. but it was not sealed. But it still had the plastic on the screen. I have searched the net for any reference to WSOD and water damage but cannot find anything. feeling more screwed by the minute. by the way, I bought it online. I live in Sweden so a prolonged my contract with the biggest company Telia. To add to this I waited 4 weeks to get the phone and then had it for 5! days and then it broke. You know how you are when you get a new gadget. You are very careful you and don't want anything to happen to it...

Sounds like a bad situation, it would take a long time for that much corrosion to happen IMO.
See if you can negotiate with your current operator for a new phone.
If that does not work then see if another operator can take over your contract.

I broke down a phone a few years ago by talking too much on the phone while taking long steamy baths...looks like steam got to my phone after almost 2 years but no less.So unless it's that,I don't know what else-try and remember if you used it while it was raining or snowing then put it back in ur pocket or entering a warm room.

That is a bad situation indeed. With a box that is not sealed, you don't know what happened to the phone beforehand..
