Hi First post
Had the phone a few days after years on the windows spv phone route..
At first i was pleasently suprised as to ease of use and i did not seem to have any glitches after i updated to Voda brand R7 through seus...
Connected to my wep protected Wifi first time and thought i was happy.
Then it all went wrong, no remote server screen every time i try the internet even though its say succsessfully connected.. even after seus reinstall, backups nothing no server detected. O2 gprs works ok any ideas ?
Read loads of post about tryin my router with no protection and it still connects but finds no internet links, gettin really tired after spendin 250 plus on this, should have stuck with windows mobile platform..

One last thing got TomTom 6 workin ok but will not gprs for traffic or updates is this related..

Hi. I'm not too technical but I'll try to help. I had exactly the same thing with my Orange 990 (got it last week). Found WiFi in my house no problem. Worked fine. Then I thought I'd 'do the job properly' and set up an account, give it a name, etc as per the manual. I also tried connecting to my neighbours router (cheeky, I know) just to see if I could. The long and the short of it is that I ended up with two routers being found on a scan, both of which with yellow stars next to them. Then I connect ot WiFi... phone says connected... but WiFi light stays out on my router... net wont work. Check settings in the account I made. Definitely selecting my router (my SSID appears), but still isn't connecting to it despite it saying it is (the lack of a light on my router shows it isn't). The Solution? I deleted the account I made. And it works. I connect with 'DefaultWiFi' account which always finds my router and puts a little yellow star next to it. Weird, but it worked for me.

Hi Thanks for the reply

i have only one router on my scan (mine) went through the connection wizard inputed the wep key etc right to the end and it says connected.
My internet earth sign just flashes in bottom left corner, then in connection manager the router details change from active then to inactive in a steady pulse. Tried any internet page and.. could not locate remote server message just comes up ..Back on gprs and everthings fine wap and proper internet pages most frustrating. Going to take to a few hotspots tonight to test but to be honest i don't hold out much hope. Back on ebay by the weekend i bet...

Did you setup router's internet connection to 'connect on demand'?And do you have MAC filtering enabled?

Hi

Yes connect on demand is on , i don't have mac filtering enabled. Getting deperate as i have seen this working on my handset and now its gone and i did not do anything except install a few apps like tomtom. But tried after a complete software wash and before i installed any apps and it still doesn't work even when i take all my protection off and turn my home into a hot spot nothing..
Come back SPV's all is forgiven
Goin out to a few hotspots keep you informed

Very strange ended. Try restarting the router itself (power of/on) and for the testing purpose be in the same room where your router is when trying to browse to be sure there is no dropping connection or any conflict.

@Precision, u think its "a biit cheeky" connecting to your nieghbours router, i'm on my nieghbours router 24 hrs HE HE, currently via my laptop at thisvery moment & all other times arround my property using his router on my P990.
I have had constant free broadband for weeks..... & there are many other unsecure routers iin my town, my p990 smoothly connects with anything with a yellow star & doesnt drop the connection while i'm on.

think the problem with first posters wifi is to do woth dodgey tomtom inatallation. although havnt iinstalled tom tom yet as my 4GB card hasnt arrived

I got my phone 4 days ago and have connected to about 4 different access points (no security, security with 128bit key, security with phrase, etc) with no issues. It's pretty smooth in fact. btw, I have the latest firmware R7***

The problem I see is that, when I am at home, I have to reset the priority of home connection to 1 in the phone -> connections manager -> group -> internet and when I go to work, I have to do the same.

I wish it could connect to whichever is available like laptops do.

@TheGuru
What if you "named" your home router same as one at work, would that help ?

@pachy
That's a damn good idea! But I don't have control over the router at work.
