SE experts,
Could you guys share any hidden secrets, key mappings, etc that you know to make life easier with p990i ? thx in advance.

For example,
To switch on speakerphone, click the middle-button twice on the navigation pad in flip mode and on the button with Arrow key/menu option in flip-off mode.

any others?

thx.

While workin on the touchscreen and in the music player ...if u want u can pause/play the music with space bar button on the qwerty keyboard.

Again while workin with the toucscreen and typin a messeg u can switch to lowercase/uppercase letters by pressin the first button of the last line of the qwery keyboard i.e-->the upward arrow button.

Check this thread out. I think it was started by a M600 user but there's stuff for the P990 as well.

In flip open you delete a message with del button and confirm with ok button.
When typing some text using querty and predictive text, move arrow buttons to select a word (on the top)and pres ok button to choose particular word, extremely useful.

From standby in FC, pressing and holding "More" opens the Task Man.

I always have the Shortcuts view in FO, so when you're deep in a lot open stuff, like an open SMS, pressing and holding the side back button takes you to Shortcuts. Same with the back button on the keypad in FC. The most significant thing here is you don't lose you view in the app you're leaving.

Opera Mini has wonderful and useful shortcuts. Unlike the one on the M600i, the Web app on my P990i doesn't have a single Alt# shortcut! Why, SE????

In many apps the have top tabs, i.e. switching from internal to MS in File Man or Pic Viewer, or Swiss Man modules, you can use left and right arrows on the keyboard.

Contacts app responds to input from the keypad or keyboard to take you to the letter you press, but this is an old one.

what would be really nice is if I can map the hardware buttons to whatever function I want to every application.

For example,
(1) I want to map 2 buttons (internet and camera) to next and previous track in media player

Basically if every application exposes certain functions ( or menu options) as "key mappable", then we can map it to whatever the key we find it comfortable and the key mapping can change from app to app and is really extensible architecture.

Also, on the Querty keyboard, on the last row, I think there is still enough space to put 2 more dedicated keys for up and down. Now you have to press ALT and then up or down. ALT+UP is fine, but ALT+DOWN is difficult since you have to press both keys with the same finger.

I really misses the shortcuts in FO when I use the camera. Why didn't they make the arrow buttons on the keyboard work as zoom buttons, or the jog wheel for that matter. Macro and "flash" would also been nice as shortcuts on the keyboard. When listening to music in the headset the play key above the jog wheel is deactivated when the keylock is activated. It sucks.

I think you can use the DEL key to mute the ring signal on an incoming call, but I've never tried it my self...

cheer's

This shortcut would be nice, in flip off mode making the phone go silent without touching the screen?
