Erase all your GPRS accounts, that should do it.

Go to tools, controlpanel, connections, internetacount, alternativ ( on the arrow) and then make it to use just CS... Thats it

will that make the "packet data" symbol above the signal strength bars go away?
Will doing this reduce the battery power consumption?

Why would you want to do that?

Well, I use wifi both at work and home so there's little need for gprs. I'd rather conserve battery power till i need to use it.

I had it switched to "CS" from day one to save on the battery - same as on P800/900/910, altough different wording in the menu. Whenever a data connection is needed, the phone connects via GPRS/UMTS anyway, just takes a couple of seconds longer to establish that connection than with "always-on).
Well worth it for the sake of battery power saving, IMHO....

Have mine on CS as well, and it does save battery time.
I also turn on the BT and Wi-Fi ONLY when I need to connect
It does require some more keystrokes every time, but once you get used to it, it's a breeze, and helps a lot the battery life.
