Hi all, I have some very bad news to share with you guys.

There won't be a firmware upgrade that will fix the hizz bug on existing handsets.
The information I got about the hizz bug was not totally accurate and this is my fault for not checking this information extra carefully, I will not make the same misstake again.
I am truly sorry about this and I am sorry for giving you guys false hope as well.
I will try though to escalate this to a higher level in the organisation.
This is bad.....

Sony then goes on to say that their new "Bond" phones don't have this issue. I guess we are suppose to buy them then? Kind of interesting as they caused this hiss issue themselves with a firmware update to the W810i.

HI all
I have some good news as well.
The hiss bug is not present in the new line of models ( W850, K800/K790, K610...).
So there is some light to this issue.

Cheers

I would say it is time for Apple to come out with a phone. Sony is a very arrogant company that we all are tired of.

I don't think I would buy another Sony Ericsson phone either. I am really quite tired of Sony's attitude all around. They really are arrogant and their products are going down the toilet quality wise.

It's a VERY widely known rumor that Apple is making a couple of cell phones, and as soon as they release one I'll buy it!

All customers agree that it is unbelievable bad service from Sony Ericsson, that they do not fix this. It’s a strange policy: “Oh, well, we won’t fix it because it is emerged due to another fix”. I mean what the hell is going on??? What kind of ignorant idiot have they hired to make this decision?

I went with Sony Ericsson back when the T68i came, and has been a huge fan ever since, because it was clear to me that this company was focussing on quality.
This hiss is very annoying indeed, but this new direction Sony Ericsson has taken is ever so more disappointing I can’t even describe it. I’ve been recommending people Sony Ericsson phones for years. I can’t do that anymore. Instead I can only tell everyone how disappointed I am.
Noticing the hiss immediately after the firmware update of my W800, I have been so patient waiting for a fix I was sure would come. I never complained about anything, because I was confidant Sony Ericsson was fixing it. Had I known back then that they would never fix it, I would have gotten my 480 euro back.

Unfortunately I still believe Sony Ericsson makes the best quality phones, so it’s really difficult finding another brand that offers anything close to SE phones – but after this whole thing I must admit I am looking now. One cannot treat customers that way. It is simply unacceptable, and I really don’t like to support such companies.

I was told that the W850 suffers from the hiss problem also, so I dare not buy it. It was going to be my next phone, but I think I’ll leave Sony Ericsson now. Very sad.

Hi all,
I actually had to read this twice as it seems unbelievable, I say bring back Ericsson and dump Sony as quality and customer care/service are not what they once where which was excellent. As others have said you knew when you bought an Ericsson phone you were getting a quality phone and if there were problems they were fixed. Now it seems it just tough and they expect you just buy another phone from them. There market share is increasing but for how long i wonder. I also notice they are happy to announce a load of new phones, maybe they should focus more on fixing the existing problems first.

I've searched and looked at the links and perhaps I have missed something but where is the "official" announcement they SE won't fix this problem? all I can find is forum posts (much like that qouted, and like this) and other external discussions

just curious to see the real "official" announcement of this so I can read the detail

Read any of the Sony Developer Multimedia threads on the issue (even the locked ones). The Sony Rep responded to each of them saying nothing will be done and by the way our new (Bond) phones don't have the issue.

yeah, I've seen that and I have previously chatted about various issues with this guy, but its not exactly what I would call an "official" annoucement, more like second hand news from a guy who heard "something"

either which way, its an obvious let down of course

That is really pretty lame. Plus the W810i is a bestseller.
