Just thought you might be interested about this piece software I have been using to squeeze those extra few tracks into my MMC. It re-encodes mp3s, changing their bit rate etc, and you can process a batch of mp3s at a time. It has a "portable mp3" preset that reduces the quality of the mp3, but the quality reduction is negligible because it's very difficult to hear the difference. It considerably lowers the file size of the mp3, like 70-75%, so I think its worth it.
http://winlame.sourceforge.net/ is the url. I dont know wether its freeware or shareware or commerical or whatever, but its there to download. Im sure theres lots of other software available that does a similar thing, but this is easy and user friendly enough to satisfy my needs.
