Actually you cannot hide the files or folders or make the invisible etc... You can protect them with password using Java file Manager. The application you're looking for is called MobyExplorer which demo version can be downloaded from www.getjar.com. With this app, you can add password to your files or folders and encrypt them. The main advantage is that noone can open them without the password. The disadvantage is that anytime you want to open the file, you need to run the application to decrypt it and continue using, but it takes long time.

i currently have moby, but i find that, as you said, it takes along time to decrypt each time, so i was wondering if there was anything else to do?

Actually, with the latest SE phones with JP7 java platform (K800, K610, Z610, W850 etc.), I've seen that you can use MobyExplorer to set the "Hidden" property of the file or folder. This will hide it from the view of the SE built-in file browser.

Using MobyExplorer or other java file manager:
1. change the file extension to something else (e.g. kid.jpg to kid.jp). The phone sees the file, but can't open it - or -
2. move the file in a folder that the phone's file explorer can't access (e.g. /MSSEMC/System/temp).

On that note what are the other availible JAVA file managers? Moby explorer is good but it has that irritating 10 second wait...
