Hello to all. I plan to replace my w800 with p990 in a very short time so I would like to know: Can the symbian os be reinstalled when you mess it up or infect it? And how can it be done without paying for any credits and etc...

Thanks

You can't really "mess it up" and the security's now tight enough for it to be virtually impossible to "infect" it with anything. The phone's have a master reset function that clears all the user data if you really want to, but the OS itself is in ROM and there's no need to reinstall it (or install it yourself in the first place).

You can flash or reflash the ROM using the Sony Ericsson Update Service for free, but this is probably overkill for what you're talking about. A master reset will undo anything you mess up yourself, and even that's probably a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

You can master reset the phone or format the c drive, which is almost the same thing.

OK thanks, I asked this question because I'm planning to replace my w800 with the p990 in short time so I don't want to mess the phone up easily, but now it's OK.

Thanks a lot
