i want to get a white w850 on contract ive seen one on the vodafone site but wanted to knw whether it would be vodafone branded or not. and if it is branded hav they gt any limitations such as u cant use .mp3's as ringtones as they had on the k700

It will be branded, but you can debrand it via Wotansever for £4 and 10 minutes of your time. As far as I know, you can use mp3s for ringtones etc. Vodafone stopped restricting you from doing that quite a while ago now.

Yes, vodafone now allow you to use mp3s etc. for ringtones and other things. I think it was something like not allowing competition or something, as most companies were sending out ringtones in mp3 format (like those who advertise on the tele.) and they must have been getting SO many complaints that they wouldn't work on their phones. Anyway, my v600i was bought back in march and it allows me to use my own mp3s for ringtones, so does another person's v600i who's had it pretty much since release time.
