Hi all, i'm new to this forum so plz help me out......i have a Sony Ericsson W700i, i wanna upgrade its firmware, i don't really mind using a lower version cuz i'm getting a new fone but i have to wait till i go back to buy it, for the time being i wanna make this fone better cuz my sister will be having it.......so the thing is, i contacted the Sony Ericsson support and they told me i have to download the program SEUS, they told me i have to go to the Sony Ericsson home page and choose Corporate Home. You see I got my W700i from Taiwan so i don't know which region i should download the SEUS program from, so the SE support told me to download from the Corporate Home so i think it means international....i did that but the program said there's no new update for my fone and that my fone already has the lastest firmware, but i've been doign research on firmware versions for my fone and there're new firmwares for it, so i don't know y the program doesn't have any new firmware so the thing now is should i downlaod the SEUS program again from Taiwan region since i bought the fone from there? The thing is i'm kinda afraid i might screw up my fone cuz i had this other fone and when i tried to upgrade the firmware something hapened in the middle of it and it just broke.....

Check your phone to see what region the firmware is from and when SEUS asks for your region, select the one your phone already has. If you want to change the region you'll have to use DaVinci or Wotan Server.

To check your current firmware and region press:

Press right on the D-pad, let go
Press the * (star key) once
Press left twice
Press *
Press left, let go
press *

This will take you to the "Service" menu.
Select "Service info" then
Select "Software info"

The first line contains the Firmware version number. It will say something like "R1DB001" or "R1CA021" or similar. (by the way, R1CA021 is the latest firmware for a Taiwan region w700, if you want the newer R1DB001 version you will have to use DaVinci or Wotan at which point you could change the region as well)
Look further down the screen and under "Customization" it will list a number and the region. My w810i says CDA102555/15 America_1. Yours will probably have a similar number and Taiwan (like CDA102663/23 TAIWAN)

If there's nothing wrong with the phone, you might just try a "Master Reset" and then use the SEUS again but it probably won't do much anyway except maybe clean it up a little.

I tried to update my SE W700i phone via SEUS and i am stuck on the following screen for over an hour.

is this normal or has something gone wrong?

Something gone wrong. You get message telling you that the firmware has updated if its gone fine. give it a while and take out the cable+battery if its still not finishing.
