if you move the black bits from the the top down to the bottom it makes two halfs as black, 0.5 + 0.5 = 1

I did it this way
A1=Rectangle ABCD area
A2=Circle area/2
A3=Trangle area
A4=Black area
A4=(A1-A2)+(A2-A3)=A1-A3 = 2-1 = 1
faultymonkey's way seems shorter
