I have a P990i with the key pad removed. When I receive a call I have the option from the drop down menu to turn on the speaker phone. However when I make a call the drop down menu gives me SOS number, paste number etc etc options but no option for turn on speaker phone.

Anyone know a shortcut for turning on the speaker during a call with the keypad removed.

Press the menu key (i.e. the key with dark up arrow next
damn SE. Couldn't they provide some hot key mapping for the speakerphone?
They probably want all of us buy their frigging bluetooth headsets. Cheap sales strategy.

Also, you can press the "delete" key (hold it down for few seconds) to mute the microphone. To remove mute, press delete key just once.

Yea that is how you do it & it mostly works BUT on some occaisions i also do not get that menu with "speakerphone on" option, i only gt the short menu that Rosslewis describes above & you also lose jog dial volume control, it seems to happen mainly when i am prompted to dial my viocemail, which is very annoying, however, if i put my voicemail numbrer in phonebook as an "entry" & call it from there, it tends to give me the speakerphone drop down. but think it should be available during every call

You have to make a call first. The other one has to pick up the call first before you can turn the speaker on

No, thas not what were saying, particularly my post relates to the menu sometimes not being available DURING a connected call obviously.

You would (as you say) quite expect it not to be available when dialing or not in an actual call.
