The first thing you need is a POP or IMAP Server (Yahoo and Hotmail offer this, maybe for a fee). Then you need GPRS or GSM Data Connection configured. If you use GSM, you will need the IP of the mail server. Keep in mind that GPRS is not necessarily the same as WAP. For T-Mobile in the US you need access to the internet2 APN to do GPRS access.

This thread contains a good example of the type of info you need to insert in the T68i E-mail client.

It basically needs the same info you would put into Microsoft Outlook.

This might help as well:

Hi,

I am using unlocked t68i on cingular network at SF.
I am able to use WAP from my t68i and able to send and receive mails from the same. Also I am able to connect to internet using my laptop connected through blutooth dangle.
I configured my t68i as per information provided at navsgrp.home.att.net and eveything works great except the GSM data connect.

But unfortunately I am not able use GSM data connect for cingular for downloading emails. Somehow this is not working. Whenever I try to connect using the phone number 18472549270 as specified in the configuration, immediately I see connection to server failed. If I call this number from my home phone, I can hear the sound of the modem data, but if I call from my cellphone, it immediately disconnects.

Please help. I need this to work so that I can save my gprs data for other use. I would like to use GSM data connect during off-peak hours.

Is this number 18472549270 is correct?

Any info will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Manish

Hi all,

I finally made GSM data connect to work.
I changed GSM data profile for email to isdn to analog.
And it worked for me.

I made a separate profile for using it through laptop which has ISDNand this also worked for me.

Thanks,
Manish

can you explin what you did please.

Because i am trying to get my pocket PC to connect to my T68i and use GSM instead of GPRS.

I can connect to GPRS by dialling *99***#2 through the pocket PC.

but i have no luck if i try and enter a normal phone number (all the phone does is says it is calling the number ten hangs up again) when i attempt to connect.

So where do i change some settings on the phone so i can connect using gsm.
