Step 1
Get new sim card. (must be unregistered)

Step 2
Send an SMS from existing handset with existing SIM Card to 865555 with the Mobile Phone Number that came with your new SIM Card (e.g. 07456 123456) as the message.

Step 3
O2 will send back a message confirming your upgrade and your free calltime credit amount.

Step 6
Once calltime credit has been applied, bin the new SIM Card

Your existing sim must be on 02 pay as you go obviously.

5450 (5 for 50) has been around for years, you get 5 free for every 50 topped up in the last year. Doesn't alway work with sim only purchase and can only be used so often, every 6 months i think? Worth a shot thought i suppose!

When you buy a new P&G handset. There are instructions in with the paperwork tellin you how to do the upgrade.

The upgrade can be done once every 14 days.

Just took this from 02's website:

If you're thinking of upgrading your Pay & Go mobile with 02 now's the time to do it. If you've been an O2 customer for 9 months we'll reward you with either a discount off the RRP of your new handset OR up to £50 calltime (when full RRP paid) - just for staying with us. You can choose from a great selection of Pay & Go mobiles and you can upgrade in one of two ways:

Upgrade over the phone by calling 2550 from your mobile
Upgrade in one of our O2 stores.

And, don't forget, when you upgrade your Pay & Go mobile with O2, you'll get 10% extra on your top-ups for life.

Already purchased a new handset?
If you've already purchased a new handset with a new SIM card, simply follow the steps below to register your upgrade and claim your reward.

If you have just purchased a 3G handset you need to ensure that you have a 3G SIM Card. If your old SIM is not 3G you need to contact customer service on 4445 to arrange a number migration if you wish to keep your old number.

Step 1

Call 5450 from your EXISTING handset, using the EXISTING SIM card - to find out how much reward you are eligible for
Select Option 1 – calling from the handset you wish to upgrade from.
Select option 2 – to register your upgrade
You’ll get an authorisation code – make sure you note it down, as you’ll need it later.

Step 2

Call 5450 from your NEW mobile, using the NEW SIM card
Enter your authorisation code and record your name and address when prompted
Once you’ve accepted and confirmed your upgrade request you’ll be given a confirmation code for your records
Now insert your EXISTING SIM card into the new mobile.
Your free calltime credit will be automatically added to your new mobile after 14 days, and confirmed by text message.
