can anyone tell me the best software to use to convert my .mp3 files to .m4a plz. i need a package that is free and that preserves the tags or lets me create tags for my files. i need a loose converter not inside anything like itunes and i need one that can have tags. If it needs any plugins or addaptions please tell me.

i use iTunes to rip my cd's to .m4a, and also to convert my mp3's to .m4a. m4a is much more compact than mp3. 128kbps mp3 is equivalent to 96kbps .m4a.
