Hi everyone,
My computer is currently messed up, i want to completely factory reset it, but i want to keep my music files and some word docs. Im going to buy an external hard drive to put these files on. I have got a restore disc which came with the PC, do i need anything else and what is involved in doing this?
Cheers,
Nick

no, the other way to do it is get a zip disk drive, but they are slower and hold less, stick with the hard drive

basically you need to boot from that and do a reinstall with formatting... . but save all your stuff first

You could just save all your valuable files on a part of your hard drive which you set aside (partition) then reboot windows with the recovery disc and restore your files, and delete the partition. Norton has a program called partition magic which would help

I dont think so, my Sattelite Laptop's recovery cd has the operating system plus all the drivers and out-of-the-box programs.
Try reading the case of your recovery cd to see if it contains the OS.
