Sales at Apple's online music shop iTunes Music Store fell off a cliff in the first six months of 2006, according to a recent survey.

Since January 2006 the number of monthly iTunes transactions has declined 58 percent, while the average size per purchase declined by 17 percent, leading to a 65-percent overall drop in monthly iTunes revenue, U.S. market research group Forrester said in a survey among North American consumers.

Seems like people still prefer hard copy CDs.

I sure do; never bought from iTunes before.

I'm with you guys aswell, digital downloads are good, and im all for them but the way i see it if im going to pay for music i at least expect a Hard Copy in some form or another.

I think it will be a long while yet before the download market over takes CD sales.

not to mention some P2P servers and tons of pirated music scattered all over the net... it will do take time...

and of course some major adjustments to music's encoding security all packed in a file.

The problem is its too expensive! its the same price to buy a CD as to buy on itunes!

if given the choice between a high quality hard copy and a poor quality restricted digital copy, I'd take the CD every time.

they say you get what you pay for but that just aint the case with itunes! if your going to be flogging a lower quality product then charge a lower price for it!

no wonder the music industry hates allofmp3.com!
