I'm trying to connect my k800 to my PC with the data cable. I first installed PC Suite. When I first plugged it in I got the found new hardware wizard and it installed some drivers from the CD & recognised the phone & memory card - so far so good. Then the found new hardware wizard kept popping up about 4 more times saying it had found a modem (described a little bit differently each time). I searched for drivers but found nothing so cancelled those prompts. Then, when I opened My Computer the phone & memory stick did not show up at all, and when trying to connect via PC Suite the phone was not recognised at all.

I don't know if it's relevant that I had an old USB cable (for my K500) installed on this computer before but I don't know how to uninstall it (it doesn't show up anywhere to uninstall)

Help!!

You don`t need to install pc suite.I`ve got five se phones.When i plugged them in it found the drivers straight away and installed them.

well OK but I'm saying I plugged it in, it DID install some drivers but then demanded MORE drivers that weren't on the CD and didn't recognise the phone.

So the problem isn't PC Suite ... I don't care about that ... the problem is that with or without it, at the moment I have no way of connecting my mobile & PC

The drivers it's asking for are:

"sony ericsson device 039 USB WMC modem"
"sony ericsson device 039 USB WMC OBEX interface"
"sony ericsson device 039 USB WMC device management"
"sony ericsson device 039 USB Ethernet emulation (WDM)"

All of those drivers are on the PC Suite disc.

nope, they weren't.

I solved the problem though with this thread: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=129809&start=15 for anyone who has the same problem. Basically: uninstall the faulty drivers that came in the phone package, download the new version of pc suite, start over

Anyway, a friend of mine had the same problem with the phone recognisation, but the problem was not with cable, but with bluetooth adapter. Before he bought his own bluetooth adapter there were some other adapters installed on his computer. When he tried to install his bluetooth adapter, there was conflict with the previous bluetooth drivers and the device was not recognized, and the phone too. We solved the problem by manually unistalling the drivers. The procedure of driver uninstallation can be done like this:

1. Right click on My Computer;
2. Manage;
3. Device Manager;
4. Then find the faulty device (it should be makred with "!" symbol);
5. Right click on it;
6. Uninstall;

The restart the computer and try installing as newer as possible drivers for the device you want to use. It should work.

Thanks

all of the drivers are on the disc, but theyre not readily searchable by Windows' automatic driver search function. i figured out the only way to actually get to these drivers is by installing the PC suite. I have it installed on my PC at home, so I can take those and upload them for you later today. it works the same way with the flash drivers - you have to install the SEUS client before the path to the drivers is made readily available to Windows

Took me about an hour to install every component individually, real nightmare.
