I've heard the same thing about California but can't find any info. I see people doing it all the time so if there is a law, they aren't enforcing it very well.
I'm wondering what you guys think - should there be a law about this?

There are lot of *localities* passing this law, but i mean come on, I woudl be pissed if I was doing the speed limit and got a ticket for being on the phone!!!!!
I usually use a headset in the car anyway so no big deal, but I think there is even a law similiar to that here in Oklahoma.

I live in BC and have never heard of such a law. of course, they *can* pull you over and give you a ticket for driving recklessly - so "be careful on your phone while you drive!" (yes mommmmmm...)

Such a law is obviously a good idea-many deaths have been needlessly caused by thick gits concentrating on their phone call rather than the road. Here in England the law has just been changed to ban in car mobile use.

Agree with gsmwraith. What about laws against women putting on makeup in the rearview mirror! Or eating in the car etc...

Hey, I drive worse when eating in the car than using my phone and eating seems to be a very common habit while driving. I agree with earlier posts - if you gonna outlaw talking, you might as well outlaw doing make-up, eating, pets, infants.....the list goes on. Thank you for bluetooth headsets!
