At first I just thought that things like this were just false rumours, but it seems that there have been problems. Anyone on here had any problems like this, the few friend knock-outs or something else? I mean I played on a Wii today, the tennis game to be precise, and although it was very fun I was made to sign a health and safety form lol.

Nintendo respond to Wii breakages

Games firm Nintendo has said it will replace all broken straps for its Wii console, following customer complaints.

The announcement follows reports about the wrist straps breaking during use, leading to the controller slipping out of hands, smashing TVs and windows.

Nintendo said the straps do not present a problem if used correctly, but will still replace all broken ones for free.

I still don't get why/how people let go of the "wiimote"? When you use a tennis racket does it always fly out our hand??? I just think some people are a bit thick!

I often use the wiimote without the strap at all, maybe i'm just super intelligent

I totally agree with you on that. How stupid do you have to be to let it go.

But my wii also has the first straps. It was on the first european wii batch.

I think these people shouldn't be the ones signing the health and safety forms, it seems that the people around are more at risk than they are. Haha... And I totally agree, if a person can't even hold on to the controller properly, maybe he should just get a game console that's safer, like the Xbox or PS3.
