I upgraded from a D500 to a K800i PAYG on Orange. I waited for a free offer so that I could get a new sim (3G enabled) since the orginal sim I had wasn't 3G. The new sim has different contact arangement, but to be honest I am guessing since it is new that it is a 3G sim. I have GSM and 3G networks enabled and when I try and choice the Orange 3G network over that of just Orange the phone will loose all signal, the 3G icon will pop up but then go off again and signal is restored. I am guessing it is tying to access the 3G network but fails and goes back to the GSM. Any ideas?

Do I need to ad some setting, or get some setting sent from Orange? I have registered the new SIM with Orange over the phone, got an SMS asking to switch off the phone and then turn it back on but still nothing.

Many Thanks

Andrew.

As long as the Sim card is 3g no it should work fine.

Where did you get the free 3g sim card from?

If it was from the internet then they are only sending them out as 2g and i know that orange shops are selling 3g sim cards for £5

Let me know and i will try to help

It was on the Orange site as a free give away in association with Kiss radio I think so it may not be 3g sim after all then?

although now finished it's like this

This is how tech support told me how to tell if the sim is 3G.

On the front, where the sim card number is, you'll have, at the bottom,
something like "3Gxx+ n3Gxxxx" - the first xx will be your operator code.

Mine's 3GO2+ ....... so 3G on the O2 network
