Interesting report. I welcome the development and think that all future handsets should use Symbian, Smartphone, or any other licensed OS. Mobile technology will benefit greatly if phones adopt standardized software platforms. Let's hope that at least a few players are able to establish themselves in the long-run, like Symbian, MS, and potentially Palm Computing.
Imagine where PC technology would be if every hardware manufacturer still made their own operating systems like they did in the old days. Standardization is a sign of maturation for the entire industry.

Actually i hope they turn to MS too, i saw a little of some of the new phones that MS is getting out on the market now, and the one thing that really made it intresting, is that all of the phones that come with their OS will have MSN built in. They said for each msg (kinda like an SMS) you would pay the GPRS cost and not the fixed SMS cost. That is a huge seller point if they could get some cheaper phones out on the market. Ofc this will only work against other ppl with MSN tho. It's also got alot of other things built in, and its easy to work with. Its good to have more than one OS on the market, and MS is a giant, maybe they can use that money for some great stuff, like this MSN and more.
