I am probably repeating some old thread asking this but, may be there is some improvement on this that i missed on the other threads.

So, do "w810i"s still hiss?

So the problem remains, but it is not a really big deal? I checked it out on a shop and the guy there played some bundled music on the phone, and i haven't noticed any hiss, but some people are bashing this phone so much, i just had to ask.

@Saladitas, how old was your w810? Is a fix in newer ones possible (Just wishful thinking)?

I hear it on mine. It is hard to ignore.
However I still use my ipod for music pleasure; the sound is miles ahead. The walkman phone here is in use for the fmradio mainly, for occasional music in between places and most of all it is very handy to carry half a gig in your pocket.
When I listen to the w810, it is always in a noiwsy environment, so much of the detail in the music is lost anyway.
All this blabla just to put some perspective on how (un)important the hiss is. That (& nuf) said, it is in fact unacceptable for a walkman branded device; it should sound correct.

can you hear the music when you play it? that will answer whether your deaf or not

Maybe we are over-analyzing, i mean, digital music files have the hiss themselves after some point. I've got a (relatively) cheap MP3 player with flash memory, and it is just fine enough for me. Is the situation really worse with w810?
