I examines the "sample" photos which were taken by the new Sony Eriksson K800 model phone camera.

According to Sony's nomenclature for its still cameras, the DSC initials are very well known.

I examined all the 11 (eleven) sample photos which were taken by the K800 and the one which called my attention was the one of a tiny bee which was poised on the toes of one foot. The image was very sharp, it might have been produced by a 5 or 7 MP camera!

My doubt persits.....was the photo taken by the Sony Eriksson K800 phone camera.....or was it taken by a SONY DSC (still) camera?!

Please check this image and comment on it.

I have been using and field-testing Carl Zeiss lenses since 1950 and my experience as a photo-columnist in Brazilian & Japanese publications are filed in libraries. Please check this image:

Please examine the full image. The resolution is excellent....was it really taken by the new Sony Eriksson K800 ?

You may note that in the URL, the initials "DSC" are mentioned.

Oops! I made a mistake!

I digites "s" instead of "d"

"I examined............."

and NOT

"I examines............."

P.S. The sharpest (high resolution) digital image ever posted in the Esato.com forum: http://static.esato.com/gfx/reviews/k800/DSC00084.JPG

P.S. In this 'url'......the 'dsc' initials aren't mentioned! [A.R.]

Amazing picture. However the field of depth is very limited.

I agree, it is incredible! Very sharp image.

As a veteran professional photographer, I presume that it was taken in the "tele" mode.....thus the shallow depth-of-field!

Perhaps the Esato people can give us futher information, was it really taken by a phone camera.....or was it 'clicked' by a Sony 'still' camera?!

if you save the image, and see the EXIF info, it states that it was taken by the K800 phone. SE are getting better at meking great cameras for phones, that's why they branded the K800 as Cyber-Shot

mcrosser & ranjith,

In a close-up, either a tele mode &/or a wide-angle macro mode may have been used with certain digital phone cameras. If this photo was taken with a phone camera....it is a fantastic breakthrough in phone cameras' capabilities.... the image is excellent......it can be easily enlarged to the A2 format approximately 40x60 cm.

I am anxiously waiting to see other 'sample photos' of this phone camera, the quality surpasses Nokia's new N series, which are also fitted with Carl Zeiss lenses!
