1,when in standby mode, does the indicater light at the top right of the phone flash green, like previous pxxx phones, and 2,when charging the phone in off mode, should the screen light be on?Only asking because my battery on my phone went dead and switched off,so i plugged in the charger and started charging. The screen light came on but it aint gone off.The indicator at the top right of the phone is red and in the top right hand of the screen there is a battery icon showing the battery is charging.

No, the p990 status light only flickers when you have a message waiting (voicemail/sms etc) or incoming call, or when the phone is charging in which case the status light stays on.
if the phone is off, then the backlight stays on when charging. no idea why, just a bug.

Thank you for your reply. At least i`ll have my phone for christmas instead of sending it back.Maybe the next firmware update will fix it.One more thing,in the help menus, even when the text is in small, all the writing doesnt appear when you scroll to the bottom. Is this a bug aswell?

One thing that is missing from the p990.(which was on the p800,p900,p910i) is the bluetooth light.

Yes I have noticed a few odd text discrepancies, these should disappear in the next firmware release. And yes the bluetooth light is missing which is a shame in terms of look as I did like the blue led, but in terms of functionality it's not really needed as you can see from the status icon on the screen and apart from that theres not many times you would need to see an external status light, except maybe when the display is off and with the unit in the car holder etc.

I am just glad SE did not put this crappy blue blinker on the phone. With that bid green and blue light blinking the phone looked like a blinking Christmas tree.
Same unnecessary blue blinking light on many bluetooth headsets. At day time but even more so at evening time people with those headsets look like blinking cops.

The habbit of little flashing lights for everything was doomed anyway, firstly it draws attention to your handset if its laying in your car while you nip in a shop tempting theives.
But most importantly, with other connections now coming along such as wifi, it would have meant THREE flashing lights, then soon with GPS prob in thhe next P series that would have meant FOUR flashing lights, SE realised that it easier to not have any, i love the fact P990 green light will only flash when its important to get my attention.
