Hey buddies,maybe orkut is getting banned in India on the charges of promoting terrorist activities !

Terrorists use mobile phones and e-mail to plan attacks too... are those going to be banned too?
I hope that this is just some stupid rumor... I mean, we're a free country where freedom of speech and expression is a fundamental right... not some crazy dictatorship.

Its truth buddy , mumbai police filed a case in local court a month ago saying that on orkut there are fan clubs of various don such as daud ebrahin,abu salem etc.They think that its used for their terrorist networkign.I know its hard stopping orkut.Every good thing has a bad side.But there should be some method to curb it !

The indian government cannot "ban" orkut. None of the orkut servers are based in India..hence beyond the jurisdiction of indian courts.. The most they can do is to block access to orkut...just as they did to some blogs recently..

Pathetic... So I can say what I like so long as it is nice and sweet? Sounds like the soviet union under stalin to me...
In any case I'm sure there will be litigation... I can understand the blocking of a site that promotes terrrism or some other crime but Blocking an entire network/portal (like orkut) is insane!
As I said - its like removing all telephone infrastructure from the country because its used to plan crimes...

Well kinda... But wiki had valid reasons.. I did have a chat with one of the folks at wiki.. But since no one from esato was too concerned.. I let them have their way.. It was sad to see scotsboys efforts go in vain.. He drafted almost all of that article..anyway, back to topic.
