I upgrade my T68 from R1B --> R2A.
They told me that my contacts are going to be deleted but nothing happend.
What about you?

use 'Ericsson Phone Book & Text Message Manager' to save all contacts. You can find the links to this program in
http://esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=481&forum=2&12, download and conect your phone to the PC. Works very smoothly

Agree, it should'nt be neccessary to take backup before upgrading. But for your own interest you should do it, in case the phone get lost or something.
