> BootMan: autostart utility for UIQ3
Bookmark topic
BootMan, an autostart utility for UIQ3 has been released. The program lets you select applications from a list for starting them automatically every time you turn the phone on. It is used to quickly bring the phone into a state you like.
While using BootMan, be aware that every program you start up consumes memory. Naturally, such autostart utility will become more useful when the RAM starvation of UIQ3 phones comes to an end.
BootMan is downloadable from
My-Symbian and
CellPhoneSoft. The unregistered version is fully functional and does not expire. Thus, registration is entirely voluntary.
Enjoy!
Current version is
2.00.

As you point out this goes against the current situation with the P990i at the moment though. I don't see the use it has in reality unless the memory situation is sorted. Of coruse that's not your fault.

One more important note about the memory issues. BootMan itself does not permanently consume memory. Its autostarter component exits after starting up other programs. The visible component (the app itself) is only used for configuration, after which you do not need to run it at all.

Thanks Lisa for this wonderful app

Just praying hard that SE truly gives us more RAM memory for the next P990i firmware upgrade...

I like Bootman for UIQ 2.0 MUCH better.
IMHO, it's quite annoying that the app asks "Perform Autostart?" question every time and then reports "app started: ..., available memory ...", so you need to press "done".
That ruins all the Bootman idea... Uninstalled.

Quote:it's quite annoying that the app asks "Perform Autostart?" question every timeThat's for your phone's safety. It may happen that you include in the autostart list an application which turns out to be doing something wrong when autostarted at boot time. If this occurs, with the dialog you can skip the autostart and then exclude the offending app from the list.Quote:and then reports "app started: ..., available memory ..."We will add options for these dialogs in a future version.
