I have just received my new W850i. Even it is not branded the activity button opens the WAP browser an loads the page of my operator.
Is this a defection, can it be modified?

Congrats!
Do you mean the Internet key or the Activity menu key?
I think it's normal to find yourself on the wap site of your operator after pressing the Internet key. I don't know whether this is customisable. I believe these settings are stored on SIM cards and have nothing to do with the phone itself. Then again, I might be wrong...
For searching the web we're left with several options: using the Internet icon in the main menu or the Activity menu key and selecting Internet shortcuts. Another possibility is to install Opera Mini, of course.
Cheers.

Actually I mean the Activity Button (the one in right side). The manual says that it should act totally different. But mine is just working as the internet button.

Today I have tested the same in another w850 and the activity button worked fine. What is the problem with mine? Is it a software problem or it is a defection?
Please advice.

it's not a defection since the phone does something when you push the button. it is a software problem
look through the settings menu, phone settings, don't you have a hardware button, or activity button option?

No unfortunatelly there is no such configuration possibility. It seems to be embeded in the software....
