I just found out that if you dont record with sound there is no lag att all. Can this be f/w or hardware related?

it could; maybe your phone doesn't have enough free memory to buffer/store the file.
does the problem still exsist if you record on lower quality?

i noticed your huge memory in your signature,
you could try swiss knife tool (don't have link here) to view and clean phone memory, might fixs things

it would be nice if SE could develope a slider bar for this then the user can determine his "buffer" to relate to what they want to do on the phone as i have this problem too! plus sound quality sounds terribly quiet!!

So theag it means the sound is decalibrated in relation with the picture or when recording it takes a few sweconds to start? Cuz either way, sounds like a processor issue...

the lag is related the memory card. Put the stock card back in (or write to the internal memory) and you'll notice no lag with sound. I have the same problem with my sandisk ultra II 4gb. Speed of the card certainly isn't a problem
I'm hoping its a fimware incompatibility issue that can be solved.
@701: It lags during recording and this is seen as stutters in the video playback. There's also lag taking photos but this is harder to find as you generally hold the camera still when taking photos.
@himlims_nl: Ive got swiss pro and it doesn't solve the situation. Its as if it has so much more overheads writing to a bigger card than a smaller one :S

How about a genuine 4 Gb card from Sony?
Would that have the same problem?

Have you tried to capture on internal memory instead of memory card? to see if it's something with the memory card, or the memory card reader in the phone

Ive tried capture to internal memory and it works fine. The phone has a problem with some high capacity memory cards....
as for the 4gb sony, no idea your guess is as good as mine but i'd say it probably has a higher chance of working
