What are your views on this?

I currently own a T630.
I have been reading (and seeing in action) that newer SE phones have problems with the joystick.
I have seen on that a friend's K700 joystick doesn't work!
I have also seen a K800's joystick on a store that allows you to try mobile phones, that the up and left directions where dead.

I haven't had any joystick problems with my T630.
The joystick is working like new.

This is what is worrying me now.
I might get a K800 for Christmas, and I'm worried about its statibility.
I'm worried about the joystick not working after a few months of use, and I'm also worried about getting a WSOD out of nowhere or after a firmware update.

Am I worrying too much or not...?
Reading here these horror stories about the dead K800s I think that I should be...

well, you're "almost" right. my k300 and k700 suffered the same, that was a reason i changed them. i have a k750 in this moment and havent had complained about the joystick. i bought it from second hand. as you can see, they have released d-pads models (maybe realized that joysticks are getting worthless). you are complaining about joysticks, so you'd can get one of those over a k800.

There were 9 months since i had my w800 and NO JOYSTICK PROBLEMS AT ALL. I think that joysticks are awesome if you treat them nicely. You don't need to be rough with the joystick by pushing it hard. Just try soft and fast moves .

btw, you can you use the numbers instead of joystick. example: menus, at the moment you are typing a sms you can use volume keys to look for the words instead using the joystick, # key for space, etc. it could help your joystick' life.

@tranced:
Thanks for the suggestion.
I would be interested in a D-Pad phone, but aren't the d-pad phones the one that you have to "open" by someway? (for example Z610, W900) ?
If so, I'm not really interested in these kind of phones...

Oh, and I already knew about using the keys for navigating menus, since I also use it in my T630, but thanks for the suggestion

@strizlow:
Well, I hope that this is the case for the K800 too...

Now, what about the sudden WSOD I have been reading about? (not only about the K800, but also for newer SE phones...)

Hi mike, I also have a T630 I'm upgrading to K750, but my friend has a W810, really nice phone. D-pad is that instead of the joystick, there are like arrows (buttons) in four directions. It's quite confortable, but not as much as a joystick.

You just take of it, and it'll do fine

you used a k800i in store and the joystick was not working properly...

That doesnt surprise me, all demo phones are always 'thrashed'/mishandled by customers/workers

If you take care of it like i did with mine you will have no problems with it....

...or maybe you could try W850. That is really good handset, and without joystick

@Mike2
You could get a nice K610. No joystick, just a dpad.

But the W850 is the other alternative. Like the K800, except it has a 2MP camera and v2 player.

Or you could wait for Sofia. That may be joystickless.
