> M600i running out of internal memory?
Bookmark topic
My friend and I have the M600i. Our software version is R9A002. My memstick is 512MB, while his is 1GB. Lately, probably because of the proliferation of new UIQ3 programs, we are starting to experience memory problems with our M600i.
In my case, my M600i ran out of memory and bugged down when I was trying to open and edit a contact with multiple cellphone numbers (more than 30 for one account; it's a large national volunteer operations group). I thought the phone just couldn't handle such an incredibly big account, so I divided the account into two, and that's that.
Also, following the old tip of leaving the media player in the background to make the menus "run faster," I noticed the setup only slowed down the phone. In my experience, the M600i reacts fastest with no program running or occupying the memory. Of course.
In my friend's case, he loaded two to three programs in his M600i using BootMan; but his phone would hang every time he received a new sms. He was forced to unload the programs in the task list to be able to read the new message.
We are still trying to isolate the cause, especially in his case, but at present, we are inclined to suspect that the current M600i UIQ3 system is the main cause of the memory problem. Are UIQ3 programs memory hogs? We think so because we are comparing the situation with our P8 and P9 setups wherein we can have almost a dozen programs running in the memory without a hiccup; and the P8 even has a smaller internal memory.
We are also guessing if the 1GB external memory eats up more "resources" from the internal memory than does the 64MB memstick that came with the phone.
We do not know how the system works, but if indeed the M600i is having difficulty handling two or three concurrently running programs with its available internal memory, then it will be a big problem for all of us. We can only move so much to the external memstick so as to free the internal memory.
Anybody experiencing similar problems?

By the way, whereas the M600i is helpless with the contact with multiple cellphone numbers, the P8 has no problem opening and editing it. I actually used the P8 to edit and divide the contact's numbers into two contact groups, and have them beamed back to M600i using bluetooth. So, that's one reason why I suspect UIQ3 could be a memory hog as compared with UIQ2.

Everybody here knows uiq 3 has a memory problem-nuthin' new.I also have a M600i with 1 gb m2 card, over 650 names in my contacts and no problem with it. Experiences may vary but I never had a memory problem with mine ever with 10 programs runing in the background. It's true that sometimes I have to restart the phone(after 3-4 dayss in order to get the Internet runing but other than that,no problem even with big accounts with 12 numbers..

if i enter all the menus from the phone to eat all the memory, the phone still works well, but only with contacts open, i can't play most of the games.i must close ALL the programs to play games
