heyy
i was helping a customer from the UK today in the retail store that im working at. he asked if we celebrated boxing day in the states. we don't, and he was asking why we don't. i told him i don't even know what it is haha. i know (now, from him) its dec 26th, but what IS boxing day??
and who here celebrates boxing day?

In reality I don't know anyone who 'celebrates' Boxing Day the same way they do Christmas Day, we see it more of an extra days holiday off work more than anything - although saying that more and more people are beginning to work on Boxing Day anyway.

lol i sold something on ebay to a person from NY , As we all no post offices and most other things are shut on christmas eve , christmas day and boxing day.
He thought id be able to send today or christmas day, do most/some americans work on christmas eve and christmas day?

Generally in the UK it's an extra day off work (usually) and is not so much celebrated but is obviously looked forward to, though I'm sure some people so things yes. To me it's a day of sports, football (soccer) to be precise!

yea, many of us work Christmas Eve, but we are all off Christmas Day (well, the lucky ones, we have some grocery stores etc that are open... i would hate to be them!), and the day after Christmas its back to work for us again... they work us to death hahaha. I wish we has "Boxing Day" here... maybe i should celebrate it anyway! haha
but the guy you sold stuff to on Ebay might have eather forgot tomorrow was christmas, or was just dumb and thought it was only a US holiday... i know some people who thought that, and i just laughed... very hard at them haha. alot of americans are idiots.
and thanks all for the info about boxing day. i knew about lookign it up in Wiki, but I was interested in peoples personal opinions. Thanks again!
