Well, the main difference between the K800 and K790 is that the K800 supports the 3G network (which means that it is a 3G mobile phone and has a front camera) and the K790 supports the EDGE network.
Ofcourse, both phones support the GSM network.

I don't know about the other small differences though.

3G vs. EDGE is really the entire difference. That nifty little front cam for video chats is part of 3G i guess. Identical besides that. We in the U.S., so woefully behind the rest of the world in mobile telecommunications, are just starting to get 3G networks in a handful of major cities, but it's a sad state of affairs in general over here. Verizon and Sprint offer EV-Do (at much higher rates than the standard network), Cingular and T-Mobile have EDGE. Woefully slow, but better than standard GSM connection (twice as fast).

I think the "a" and some phones "i" letter shows the default language pack of the phone. There is for example: K800i (international) and K790a (american), which only has languages used in the American continent.

one important difference is that the k790 doesn't support the stereo bluetooth technology which is compatible with the k800 :S

Both K790 and K800 supports stereo bluetooth streaming. I am using the HBH-DS970 with my K790i
