All,
After having followed this forum for years (owning P800, P900, P910 and now P990) I decided to register today. Thank you very much for so much insight and expertise over the years! You are doing a wonderful job!
After making a backup of my P990 content, the file size on my desktop computer seems so much smaller than the actual content of the P990. When making a restore however, everything is correctly replaced. Does anyone know how come? Thanks!

How large is the backup file? it doesn't take a backup of all your files, just what you need. All the media files, installed apps, contacts, messages, adjustments etc. Not all the system files on the phone. Therefor, I think it's much smaller than all the files on P990.Or did you mean something else with "actual content of the P990"?

The smaller size might also be caused by lossless data compression (like ZIP or RAR). Anyway, like Jornan says, not everything on the phone is backed up, just "your part" of the data.

Thanks. Probablly it has to do something with compression. If I look at the size of the back-up file on the desktop it is only about 11 MB, while the total of data stored on the P990 (C+D data files) is just so much more than that. I can remember that the back-up files from the P900 and P910 used to be much larger.
