I'm curious if anyone's P990 scroll-wheel has become loose with less resistance, and, as a result, is not completely functional? If so, has anyone opened the phone and fixed the wheel? I'm thinking about doing so and was curious if anyone had any tips.

I haven't this problem, but can tell you how to open the phone. It has two regular screws and four torx screws. Use a T6 on the torx.
When you have done this, you have to take of several clips around the phone, which keeps the two parts of the phone together. Use your nail or a screw driver to divide the two parts. Then it's just to take off the parts!
