Well I have same problem with my wife Z610. When trying to download from gmail it start download but can't save it. When I finally got gmail.jar, it can't access it (I can browse to other wap site just fine). Turn out gmail don't like setting in my provider proxy and I can get it work by eliminating proxy in the mobile internet setting. Talk to your provider and ask why it does not work.

BTW try this GMail.jar I found on the net.

This happen to me as well. My wife Z610i can access gmail though opera mini 3 but can not using gmail app. It took my provider technical support 45min to figure it out that it does not like to use provider's APN proxy.

What is also weird is that I can't save/download content from SE Fun&Download with this Z610.

That is for email with messaging menu isn't it? Seems that it will download all the content of your gmail inbox to your phone memory (correct me if I am wrong). Gmail app will only show your inbox hence not saving anything to your phone memory (better for memory maintenance and maybe less gprs data transfer?). It also got a great User Interface so I prefer it (but I hope the select and cancel soft button is the opposite like SE one).

However I might try that one too.
