I use WiFi at home, and I just signed up for T-Mobiles wireless internet. I was told that their 29.99 plan also includes 3G speed if it is available... but how can I tell if it is available? I would think that where I am I should have UMTS connection, being in the Minneapolis area. But I don't know how to be sure. Because if I do not get it, I want to cancel my tmobile internet.
I use a P990i by the way.

@shrubba - Better ask your local network provider about it . . . or better yet, try calling someone who has a 3g-capable fone too (video call), that way you'll know if you had the right settings pal. Good Luck !

@shrubba
You'll need a 3G capable SIM card (USIM) to be able to use 3G, but I'm not sure if any settings are required for 3G to work after that. I didn't have to do any settings after I got an USIM anyway (Telia, Sweden).
Check with your service provider if they can send you a new card (if you're not sure it's an USIM already).
Also remember to check under connection settings (in control panel) that 3G isn't simply disabled (it's in the menu of the 'mobile net' (might be named otherwise) connection settings).

If your unsure if you have the right settings for 3G go to the support section of sonyericsson.com and just resend them to your phone, it wont hurt even if you do already have the settings.
