As i know ,setting up is easy to moderately difficult ,maintenance is the headache.
I hope u dont mean buying a dedicated server.
So u want to start hosting on your own?

I have a webserver. First at all you have to pay for that machine and for the second you have to run it like maintance and stuff for that (remember you will get a a bill from where you get the power to run it and a server use a lot of elctricity) and the third thing is that you need to a domain where you connect your IP from the server to..

well, ihave a server installed at home for development. any good pc will do for a server, you just need high upload speed for your internet.

ah.
that could be my downfall then..
high upload speed and the UK dont go together...
i've only got a 768k/b upload.

reggy hasn't hit the million hits mark yet
reggy, try to get a company internet plan, it has a slightly slower down speed, but has a up = down speed ratio
