One fine morning i noticed a message on my screen saying "Please register your phone with Sony Ericsson. You will receive a text message from Sony Ericsson and will be charged as per local operator rates. "
I have an unlimited GPRS connection and i had thought that this request message came via GPRS and the registration would be sent via GPRS. Thinking that my operator does not charge for receiving text messages i pressed yes. Immediately i lost 5Rs.
I still dont know how the message was sent or why i lost 5Rs. The sent items list doesn't show any sent item. I also havent yet recieved any text message from SE. I am from India and my operator is "Bharathi Airtel"
I had once done a FOTA Firmware update via GPRS about 2 weeks back.
Could that be why i recieved such a request?
There is no other reason i can think off.
Did any of you have such an experience with K790 or K800?

My K790a asked me to register my phone with SE when I first turned it on. I think I pressed yes but no "sending message" screen appeared. I don't know if I got charged or not.

Did any of you have such an experience with K790 or K800?
I got the same message about an hour after I bought the phone, I also sent it but I don't know how much was charged.
I have not received any information from SE about it after that.

The message is sent as a normal text message (SMS). At least the Swedish info message tells me so. You'll probably get the question each time you've flashed your phone. I've gotten it twice I think, answered yes the first time, but I'm on a P990...

By the way how does this registration actually help the buyer? Is it just so that SE can log buyer/purchase information?
