my SE 750i seems to be having some problems. It often wont accept the handfree when plugged in, I need to restart the phone. Also, my menu, when scrolled over, appears in a black box, indicating some sort of problem.
A: How can I find out what firmware I am presently using
B: How can get the latest firmware to see if this solves it?

no! SE site doesnt advertise which version is available...
by just exercising your fingers and using the proper tool like search engine.
youll find out that the latest version for K750i is R1DB001.
you can acquire the update using the software provided on the SE site. download that, install it... then plug away!

it means your phone is branded one supplied by a carrier
you have to wait for carrier to approve new firmware before SE update will let you have it
