Hi all!
I've found that the reader in P990 don't work optimal when I use 3G. It don't manage to translate all pages. I get often a message wich says: "XML-analyzes failed" (also when I'm on esato.com). This only happends when I use with 3G. With WIFI it's ok. Opera Mini on the other hand is better and I often find that it translates web-pages better than Opera 8.65. I also find the Opera Mini more user-friendly. Any opinions on this and maybe som help with my 3G problem.
By the way: The new FW has improved the phone. I have around 2MB more RAM at start up and it is over all a little bit faster.

I now use Opera Mini as I found it amazingly fast, not just the data but the operation of the actual program. The display is good and intelligent fits all sorts of websites into a good viewable package. For 100Kb install it's well worth it and with a few extra options like easily opening multiple windows etc seems to be better than the built in browser. BUT, I haven't tested both under the new firmware so there may now be a difference.
Personally I'd like the internet hardware button to load opera mini, and for it to be the default app, but when clicking links elsewhere it will load the built in browser. This may be different now, so I will have to sit and play with the device.

just wait for operamini 4 or a operamini 3 hacked version. you can hope to get all those features.

I use Netfront and Opera 8, but since installing Mini, a modified version of 1.23 i rarely use either of the firstmentioned. Mini is so much faster, and has brilliant features, besides the fact that it's so sparing with the kilobytes!

What's so nice about Opera Mini is how you don't really have to touch the screen when scrolling, which is super fast, BTW. Even with flip open on my P990i, the QW and OP keys act as softkeys for the usual Menu and Back.
Opera Mini is also vastly superior in rendering relatively complex pages in a more usable manner. and it does it so quickly and economically, in a way that the phone's resources (RAM and CPU) are never over-burdened.
The most useful thing, however, is the instant page-up, page-down navigation using left and right arrows, FO or FC; something the full opera should learn from little brother.
Edit: A dot here, a comma there.

I agree with all this. I use Opera Mini a lot more than the installed version of Opera - though the latest version on the FW is much faster than it used to be. But Opera Mini still works better for me for most things. It also looks a lot better. One thing I've found, when downloading a podcast within Opera Mini it needs to start up the main Opera browser to continue the download. I'm still looking for a podcatcher type of programme for the 990 but haven't found one yet

But both the built in opera and opera mini cannot load java applets. Is there a work arround for this? Just try using web yahoo messenger.

Operamini is simply a "mini" version of Opera & sorry to say it simply can't beat opera. It's not as fast as ur saying. They're equal. Now with the new firmware opera is faster than mini, u don't have a certificate to accept each time u load it. It chooses the version of the site to display. Example: wap & web sites with the same URL. No password saver. No multipages. I find it horrible & frustrating to use.

Hi all,
OK Opera Mini is good for reducing Data charges as the web pages you go to are rendered at the Opera end on their server and optimised for viewing on mobile devices. This is also why the pages appear much faster as their is less Data traffic so less to download but Opera Mini is not a full HTML browser. Freedom of choice at least in this instance means you can choose which suits your needs better. There is a better and full explanation at this link
