> Problem with P990
Bookmark topic
Hi all,
I've been having a problem with my p990. Basically I can't receive or make phone calls and I can't send or recieve text messages. The phone is not in Flight Mode and I have full network coverage. When I try to make a phone call I get 3 beeps and the phone stops making the call. With the text message, the message gets saved in the outbox. In order to do either of these tasks, I have to try repeatedly about 5 or six times. Sometimes if I'm lucky it may work in 2 - 3 tries.
When somebody tries to call me, it goes straight to voicemail, as if the phone is turned off despite the phone being turned on with full signal. When I do receive a text message, I revieve them all in one go, but not at the time they were actually sent.
Any ideas as to whats wrong with the phone?
Also why does it take ages for the phone to load videos?
Thanks for any help.

Mine occasional has this problem, althought only briefly. However when this happens on mine the signal icons go, suggesting on coverage.
Your's seems a bigger problem. Do this happen all the time?
Sounds like something terminal if you ask me.
I presume you have the correct sim card and you have rebooted etc etc
good luck

You could try to reflash with the newest firmware (if you care and dare) otherwise just take it back to the dealer. The P990i is the most 'returned' cell by far, so don't feel bad. Next time get your self a cell from a more reliable/bigger company ;)

Sounds faulty, dont try to fix it or update the firmware, return it & get one that works or get your money back.

I took it back today to the carphone warehouse. they said it'll take anything between 14 - 30 days to get repaired. I backed up all the info last night and did a master reset, but with no positive result.
I'm starting to regret getting the phone now tbh. there's a few things I'm not happy with, which have all been mentioned in other threads. Hopefully when they repair it, they will flash it and update the firmware..
Thanks guys

If u had it less than 2 weeks, you should alway get a refund (its their policy) & then imediately buy a new one, its far quicker, maybe you had it longer than that.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you will get back your phone asap with the new fw that just came out recently.

As it's mainly network issues you are having, it could be a problem with the sim card, the sim card in that phone or the sim reader of the P990. Check it's inserted ok. It's not the best design in the world and relies on the battery keeping it still.
The video problem could be a firmware or software issue and is probably unrelated to the network issues.
Let's hope it comes back ok. You may just get a replacement.

The sim card itself is fine, I've put it in another phone and works fine. I've had the phone since october and it started giving me problems in dec. Should have taken it back sooner. Hopefully it won't be too seroius. Its insured anyway so if a replacement is required I should get one fairly easily.
Thanks guys, I'll let you know how it gets on and let you know what the problem actually was just incase anyone else experiences the same thing.
